Watch the Breakdown 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slow Blues Power

I begin this solo with a figure reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix’s “Red House,” in that a C7 triad (G Bb E) is played on the top three strings, played in an arpeggiated fashion—the notes of the chord shape are picked individually—and vibrato-ed. The C7 shape is pulled back one fret for the F7 chord (making reference to F7b9 or Gbdim7), after which I switch to a doublestop, using only the notes on the G and high E strings. This doublestop shape slides all the way up to 17th position and is then pulled back chromatically (one fret at a time) to the 16th and then the 15th fret.
