Watch the Sixth's & Compound online guitar lesson by Jeff Beasley from Shred Ahead Blues Rock

The sixth interval is certainly one of the most commonly used in all of rock and blues music. A sixth is simply a distance (interval) between two different notes. In simple intervals (an octave or less apart) there are two types of sixths, major and minor. A major sixth is the distance of nine frets between two different notes and the minor sixth is eight frets between the two.
