Taking a jazz musician's approach to the minor five-chord and incorporating this into a rock player idiom adds another level of color to our soloing. Typically a rock player might go to the flat seven scale degree of the pentatonic scale and then resolve to the four. The jazz player will go to the minor five-chord and then resolve to the four chord creating a different and modal spice to the solo.
