Watch the Augmented Arpeggio online guitar lesson by Jeff Beasley from Shred Ahead Blues Rock
The symmetry of this fingering of the augmented arpeggio lends itself to an easier execution. This approach to the arpeggio can also be sweep-picked as well as alternate-picked. Many guitarists learn to sweep-pick yet never learn to alternate-pick arpeggios. I like to think of alternate-picking as a prerequisite to sweep-picking. If you don't skip the alternate-picking of the arpeggio you'll not only sweep-pick more efficiently but improve your overall picking technique. Coupling the whole-tone scale with the augmented arpeggio creates an interesting tension and release and makes moving the arpeggio around the fret board easier.
