Watch the Lick Vocabulary 24 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Progressive Blues Power

Let's begin, as we have done in other keys, with the lowest quadrant of the fretboard, incorporating open strings into our scale positions of A minor pentatonic and the A blues scale. As I have demonstrated, incorporating open strings invites some great phrases built from legato techniques such as pull-offs, hammer-ons and slides. It is then fun to take the open string licks and figure out ways to play them in closed positions (without open strings).
