Watch the Rollin' and Tumblin': 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Progressive Blues Power

I use the fret hand thumb throughout this example to anchor the low G root note on the sixth string/third fret. After stating the melody, I use the open G string as a drone while playing ascending and descending melodies on the D string. Towards the end of the solo, I switch to doublestops thirds apart, ala Johnny Winter on "Mean Town Blues," and then sixths on the D and B strings with the open G string in between, ala Clapton on his great live version of "Steppin' Out" from Live Cream: Volume Two.
