Watch the Medium Shuffle Groove: 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Progressive Blues Power
I started this solo with the same two-note figure, B and D, from the previous example, but here the two notes are played simultaneously in straight eighth-note triplets along with the open high E string, using all upstrokes with the pick hand. In bar 2, I switch to playing these notes individually in order to present a clear and precise melodic line, one delivered with quick slides, pull-offs, hammer-ons and trills. As the solo progresses, I maintain the melodic approach of delineating each beat with clear three-note phrases, each setting up the subsequent melodic phrase. Incorporating the notes of E major pentatonic (E F# G# B C#) helps in expanding the melodic nature of the solo.
