Watch the Higher Positions: 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Progressive Blues Power
This solo begins in 12th position, with standard 12th fret index-finger-barre type licks on the top three strings. In bar 3, I alternate in eighth notes between double stops on the G and B strings and single notes on the high E and D strings. Bar 4 serves as an anticipatory chord change from the one, E7, to the four, A7, using ascending notes thirds apart on the G and B strings. Bars 9-11 feature a fast tremolo picking technique wherein I move very quickly between pairs of notes on the G and B strings, using the pick hand thumb and middle fingers to pick. This technique is used in conjunction with oblique bending, as bent notes on the G string are played along with unbent notes on the B string.
