Watch the Back To Dover online guitar lesson by David Grissom from Open Road Blues

For the solo section on “Back to Dover,” we’ll start and end simply. It’s always better to play a few notes well than to play a thousand notes that just ramble around. We’ll start with the Blues Scale in the first two choruses, but I brought in the Aeolian mode (a single note difference from the Blues Scale) to make it more complex and interesting without having to add in too many notes. The fourth chorus resolves the solo by finishing with some simple notes played higher on the neck.
