Watch the Rockin' Berries online guitar lesson by David Grissom from Open Road Blues
The rhythm part for Rockin’ Berries is a straight-up Chuck Berry rock n’ roll melody. To make it sound authentic it is important to only play the down strokes, letting up on the strings when you aren’t playing. In the second chorus, I added in some R&B sounding 9th chords to build off the basic riff. We’ll spin the rhythm back towards blues rock in the third chorus, playing a Lonnie Mack inspired part to bring it home.
