Watch the Lightning Strikes online guitar lesson by David Blacker from Lone Wolf Blues
This piece is a great starting place to work on the elements of steady bass picking. It works through different inversions and chord fragments in the open positions to give you a basic toolbox for accompanying yourself via the steady bass style. If you find this piece challenging, then just take a couple measures and really lock them in before attempting to move on.
The triplet feel runs throughout this piece and demonstrates how you can use chord fragments and a triplet rhythm to make a musical statement. There is also a descending chord melody that happens in measures 3 and 4 which demonstrates how to use chromatic lines to create tension and movement within a piece.
