The idea with this first solo is to play as melodically as possible while also referencing each chord in the progression directly. I begin with D major pentatonic (D E F# A B) but then switch to chord tones of C and G as a means to navigate through the changes, arriving back over D with the use of D major hexatonic (D E F# G A B). At the end of the example, over F and C, I switch to F major pentatonic (F G A C D) and C major pentatonic (C D E G A) over F and C, respectively, fortifying the connecting between the soloing line and the chords.
