Watch the Rollin' In Your Arms online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 3
Jerry Garcia was a huge fan of Appalachian folk music, and strains of those sounds found their way into much of the music of the Grateful Dead. One of the most well-loved and oft requested performances was their medley of the two folk classics, "Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad' and "I Know You Rider." After laying down the former tune, the band would settle into a long jam and then emerge with the strains of "I Know You Rider." This track is played int he style of the latter song, The repeated chord progression is very simple: D-C-G, and then a twist is provided with the use of F to C twice, followed by a return to D.
