Watch the Gloomy Tuesday: Rhythm 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 3
In order to produce a lighter sound, I switch to fingerpicking for this rhythm part, arpeggiatling each of the chords (pick each note of the chord individually and in succession). The notes used for G9--B F A--move down to Bb E G to sound a C7 voicing. The pinkie is then used to add chordal embellishment on the high E string. The initial 9th voicing is then slid up to ninth position for the C9 chord, after which subtle melodic content is added via moving the chord down the board. I stick with the top-three-strings approach for the G9-Am9-B9-Bbm9-D7 chords, which results in some interesting shapes and chordal connections.
