Watch the Difficult To Grasp: Rhythm 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 3
The three-note voicings played on the top strings in this rhythm part are inspired by the harmonized horn parts heard on the original recording. This type of approach--emulating the horn harmonies in a guitar part--is something all of the blues/rock greats did in the great majority of their music. I begin by connecting two Bb7 voicings on the top three strings, using an Eb triad as the connection piece, sounded once again with 16th-note based syncopated picking, as each note is allowed to sustain and many of which are vibratoed. Connecting small chord voicings in this manner is known as "voice leading" and "close voicing.'
