Watch the Crazy Stallions: Rhythm 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 3

The initial chord in the progression, Bm, is voiced on the top four strings only; it always sounds good to play smaller voicings on fewer strings as not to clash with other instruments, such as keyboards or additional acoustic or electric guitars. The song is played in the key of G, so a perfect scale to use for adding single-note riffs between the chords is G major pentatonic (G A B D E), as I do here when moving from Bm to G. A twist is added by keeping a D note fretted on the B string while performing a "double pull-off" on the G string, resulting in pairs of notes that are harmonized thirds and fourths apart. Throughout, I arpeggiate the chords in the progression while also adding ascending and descending bass pattern; sounding the notes individually fills up the space nicely while providing rhythmic structure to the guitar part.
