Watch the Mall Cops: Rhythm 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 2
For this supplemental secondary rhythm approach, I move up high on the fretboard to eighth and ninth position to play the alternating Gm7 and Cm7 chords, which are strummed in a similar syncopated 16th-note manner as the first approach to rhythm guitar. Notice that I stick with the inside four strings for these two voicings, with subtle voice leading used (there is minimal fret hand movement when switching between Gm7 and Cm7). For the second half of the progression, I switch to the top four strings for the Ebmaj7-Dm7-Gm7 chords in order to provide contrast to the first section.
