Watch the Sweet Windy City: Lead 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 2
An earmark of a good solo is that it is melodic and memorable, and this is especially true, and challenging, when playing the blues. As I've mentioned when discussing the other songs in this course, it's always good to quote or emulate the vocal melody of the song within the solo, as it provides an immediate and clear-cut connection to the specific song (in other words, it's not just another solo that could be played over any tune). I begin this first solo example with a very direct vocal-type melody, and I stick with that approach while also adding faster, flashier licks in between the imagined vocal lines.
