Watch the Interstate Blues: Rhythm 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 2
Two-note root-fifth and root-sixth chord types make up the majority of this rhythm part, and the figures are spiced up with single-note walking bass-type lines that strengthen the dominant seventh feel through the accentuation of the major third and the flatted seventh. Palm-muting is also brought into play - lay the edge of the pick hand palm across the strings down by the bridge saddles, in order to attain a more percussive sound. These palm-muted parts provide a contrast to the segments of the part that feature sustained chord tones that ring into each other.
