Watch the Pier of the Sea: Lead 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 2

After the initial lines based on G major pentatonic, I bring in the D# note in order to make direct reference to the B major chord (D#, though not found in G major pentatonic, is the major third of B). Over the subsequent C-A, I switch to sliding sixths positions on the third and first strings, utilizing hybrid-picking (a combination of flatpicking and fingerpicking) to sound these figures. Over A, I slide down the fretboard through three positions, resolving the figure by shifting from sixths to fifths. The second pass through the verse chords is essentially a restatement over the first pass but with different root-fifth and root-sixth doublestops used over A. During the chorus chords, I use single-note lines based on G major pentatonic (aka E minor pentatonic) but then use country-style "oblique bends" over G-A-G-E, with bent notes on the B string joined by stationary notes on the high E string, executed once again with hybrid picking.
