Watch the Sky Blue: Rhythm 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 1
I begin this rhythm part with a first inversion E chord, which means that the third of the chord, G#, is played as the lowest note in the chord voicing. With the index finger barred across the fourth fret, I hammer up from the fourth to the sixth fret on the D string using the ring finger. Right before switching to the four chord, A, I like to throw in a quick D, or b7, chord, as I do here. While playing the A chord, I will occasionally barre the middle finger to incorporate Asus4 or D/A into the rhythm figure to create a more interesting sound.
