Watch the Sky Blue: Lead 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 1
When you add the interval of a fourth to a major pentatonic scale, you end up with a six-tone scale known commonly as major hexatonic. Dickey Betts has leaned on this scale so much over the years that many guitarists refer to it as the "Dickey Betts" scale. In the key of E, E major hexatonic is spelled E F# G# A B C#. Notice the emphasis on slides between repeated pairs of notes in this solo, used in a thematic way as the solo progresses.
