Watch the Rough Shape: Rhythm 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 1
For the initial chord, G7, the low G root note is fretted by wrapping the thumb over the top of the neck. I supply hard accents on the downbeats of beats one, two and three and add a quick upbeat accent on beat four with C/G, fretted by barring the pinkie across the D, G and B strings at the fifth fret while maintaining the thumbed low G root note. For the D7 chord, I hold the chord shape while arpeggiating (picking the notes of the chord individually), allowing all of the notes to sustain.
