Watch the One Way Street: Rhythm 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 1
I begin with sliding two-note shapes played in conjunction with the open A string, sounding the b7, G, along with the maj3, C#. Fretted on adjacent strings, I then move up to D/A followed by a high E with a G on top, sounding a small A7 voicing, and then move back down and wrap up the idea with a single-note riff. I anticipate the shift to the four chord by sliding the initial dominant seventh shape up chromatically (one fret at a time) till I reach D7 at the start of bar 9, where the A idea is transposed up a fourth to D. An abridged version of the riff is then configured to take us through the remainder of the progression.
