Watch the Feelin' Good: Rhythm 1 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Jam Night Vol. 1

I approach this rhythm part with an ear for balance and forward movement, as each bar in the progression represents a slight shift: I begin in bar 1, over D7, with two-note figures that slide up and down chromatically, emulating harmonized horn parts, and follow this in bar 2 with a low bassline-like riff. This same technique is then transposed up to the four chord, G7, for which I use the same approach. After the stabs on the five chord, A7, and the four chord, G7, I play an ascending lick that is based on a D9 arpeggio, comprised of the notes D F# A C E.
