You've gotta know the basic 12 bar blues progression. But then what? After a while, you're probably ready to breathe some new life into the tried and trusted standard 12 bar blues progression.

This chordal movement comes to us from our Jazz friends and is called a ii-V-I. The reason is that we'll target a I chord and move into it using it's ii chord followed by it's V chord. This little move will help add some spice to a plain 12 bar blues tune.
