Watch the The Borough of State online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Blues Guitar Fakebook: Rhythm Vol. 2

The blues classic "Statesboro Blues" was written by Blind Willie McTell, first recorded in 1928 then rerecorded by Taj Mahal in 1968, which inspired the Allman Brothers to immortalize it on Live at the Fillmore East in 1971. The Allman's version is one of the great blues tunes of all time and a must know for every guitar player. If you play slide, the intro riff is like going to school and church at the same time! The tune has a particular riff that we want to check out, so let's dive into it.
