Watch the Elmore James online guitar lesson by Geoff Hartwell from Guitar Lab: Electric Slide
Elmore James is regularly referred to as the “King of the Slide Guitar”. He became famous as a Chicago Bluesman, and is a hugely influential singer/songwriter and slide guitarist. He played almost exclusively in “Open-D” tuning, which is exactly the same as “Open-E” with all the strings tuned down a whole step. This example is presented in standard tuning in the key of E, but is played exactly the same if you’re in either Open-E or Open-D. This lick is the foundation of his classic songs “Dust My Broom” and “Dust My Blues”.
