Watch the Jazz Blues 2 online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Blues Survival Guide: Rhythm Edition

How do I start getting into jazz? There are some great "gateway" recording for the jazz newbie, you may not want to jump into John Coltrane's Interstellar Space recording right away! The first recording that comes to mind is the Miles Davis classic "Kind of Blue". The album was released in 1959 and marked a new era in jazz. It also contains the song "All Blues" which is a classic standard. I find this is easily the best intro to jazz album. It contains Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Paul Chambers, Bill Evans, and Billy Cobb. One of the greatest recordings of all time.
