Watch the Big Bend Blues online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Blues Guitar Survival Guide - Lead
This study also uses a half step bend of the flat third of the minor pentatonic scale and an added natural third found in the I7 chord. Specifically E being bent up to E# (F). Why is that called E#, well we are in C# and a C#7 chord is spelled C# E# G# B. I know it gets a little confusing but trust me... This half step bend will only work on the I7 chord, it will sound terrible on the IV7 chord because the F#7 (IV7) is spelled F# A# C# E. The E# would rub horribly on the chord so we avoid it. I stole this little maneuver from Eric Clapton, it's a real trademark of his style.
