Watch the One Note online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Blues Guitar Survival Guide - Lead
It is a cliche for sure, but sometimes one note really does say it all, for a period of time. The king of this is Albert Collins, he can bang out one note and it makes my big toe shoot up in my boot! (Little Richard Quote about Jimi Hendrix that I love) Another example is Neil Young's solo on Cinnamon Girl, it's all one note and kills it. It's easy to want to get worked up about what we can play, chops, scales, etc. and as the cliche goes, it's often about what we don't play. As I get older, I am less interested in chops and lots of notes. What gets me is the right notes, this is where my undying love of Jeff Beck comes in. Simple, yet very difficult to execute, Albert King is the same way.
