Watch the Using 6ths online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Blues Guitar Survival Guide - Lead
6ths are a staple in the blues, as I have explained that they can be seen as an inverted 3rd so they are very comfortable sounding. We can use them as lead ideas, melodies, and chord fills. The are also a great way to harmonize a melody line as I have demonstrated. It is extremely important that we run the 6ths, or any interval though the key we are working in, this brings us back to the idea of fretboard knowledge and having control of the instrument. Really put some time into the 6ths, it will really pay off.
