Big Bend Blues utilizes some of my favorite bends, the minor 3rd. A interval of a minor third is one and a half steps. In a minor pentatonic scale we have two minor third bends available, between the root and the flat third and between the fifth and flat seventh. I really overlooked these in my early playing days favoring the whole step bend as well all do. My first exposure to the minor third bends came from David Gilmour in "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and Jimmy Page in "Whole Lotta Love". But for some reason I never analyzed them to any extent and glossed over it. Not until I threw myself into Cream era Clapton did I really take note of these super cool bends found inside a pentatonic scale.
