Phrase 2 is a four bar Q&A phrase with different motive lengths. Motive 1 starts on the upbeat of beat 3 before measure 1, and Motive 2 starts after beat 1 in measure 3. Otherwise, octave transposition is used on the final notes of each motive for unity. Again, the lead scale is E Pentatonic minor: E,G,A,B,D,E (1,b3,4,5,b7,8). However, this time C# (6) and F# (9) are included to expand the tonality in the first motive and contrast with the second.

Phrase 2 is also an octave higher than Phrase 1 and offers contrast when following it. Bending is emphasized more (whole instead of 1/4 steps) as well as denser eighth note rhythms. Be sure to try playing Phrases 1 & 2 (as well as their TAB variations) together as an eight bar period.
