Watch the Bad Sign online guitar lesson by Joe Deloro from Blues Rock Road Trip 2

Bad Sign is loosely based on the Stax Records Memphis soul track, Born Under A Bad Sign by Booker T & The M.G.s from 1967. Eric Clapton recorded a version with Cream the same year for Atlantic Records in New York during their Disraeli Gears sessions. It was released the following year on their Wheels Of Fire album. It took things a step further and in more of a blues-rock direction featuring a more sophisticated arrangement, a signature double-time drum part, as well as a classic inspired solo from Clapton. Like the original, Bad Sign also features a 2 bar G7 T&V background bass riff.
