Watch the Texas Blues: Solo online guitar lesson by Joe Deloro from Blues Rock Road Trip

Texas is connected to the Blues Highway from St. Louis by what used to be known as Route 66 (the "Mother Road"). And, as everybody knows, it's a big place. So, is there really just one sound to Texas Blues or Blues-Rock for that matter? Of course not, it runs the gamut.
To a certain extent though, those at the forefront set the tone. So, while there's diversity, there certainly is more than a thread connecting the classic Blues-Rock sounds of Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Charlie Sexton, and Doyle Bramhall. Maybe it's got something to do with the Wild West meeting the Blues. Whatever the it is, Eric Clapton's 2004 Crossroads Festival at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is an overwhelming sign in the Lone Star state that the appetite for Blues-Rock and other related styles is still alive and well.
