Watch the Blues For Dori online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Guitar Lab: Blues Progressions
The previous two minor blues progressions were set to the natural minor and harmonic minor scales respectively. While they both sound great and will serve you well, it's a minor blues set to a Dorian vibe that will be what you end up playing most. For starters Dorian grooves big time with funk vibes, and as we've already seen, minor blues progressions love the funk. From a soloing standpoint, if you're modally hip, Dorian rules!
You can spot a Dorian blues from a mile away just by looking at the IV chord. If you see a IV7, as opposed to the ivm7 chords in both of the previous progressions, you most likely have yourself a Dorian blues. But, judging by the title I think you know where this is going!
