Watch the Basic Eight online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Guitar Lab: Blues Progressions

Taking the bar count manipulation to the other extreme here you have 8 bars set to an open, yet driving groove to get down with. Eight bar blues are more common than you'd imagine and thus they are featured throughout the course many times so get ready. Once again things are kept simple allowing you to concentrate on the most important element that trumps all others no matter what the bar count: The groove.

If you're new to quarter note triplets getting the feel is a snap. Just count out two bars of 1/8 note trips and play the 1st, 3rd and 2nd subdivisions. Take note: the first two attacks are just swing 1/8s!
