Watch the The Longest Road online guitar lesson by Kelly Richey from Blues Grit

Breakdown of Rhythm and Lead Guitar Solo Highlights. Make sure you understand the difference between a major and minor pentatonic scale! If major pentatonics are new to you, spend time practicing these so you can successfully and effortlessly visualize them on the neck of your guitar. Take your time and thoroughly work each of these techniques building them into your DNA. Be sure to practice both rhythm and lead guitar to the jam track included in this section. Take one technique each day, break it down, and then look for ways to incorporate it into your everyday playing. Look for other songs that use major pentatonic so that you get as much as possible out of this example. Don’t forget to warm up each day with at least one of the finger exercises, playing with a click to maintain your timing. Whenever possible, practice hard for 30 minutes a day and then play to have fun. Never practice to the point of pain! When you feel like you’ve got these concepts down, move to the next song in this series.
