Watch the Crossroads Blues online guitar lesson by Kelly Richey from Blues Grit

Breakdown of Rhythm and Lead Guitar Solo Highlights. Make sure that you take your time and work each of these techniques solidly to make them your own. Be sure to practice both rhythm and lead guitar to the jam track included in this section. It would be a great idea to create a “pentatonic exercise” where you practice playing each note with your middle finger (while holding your pick) to develop right hand strength and the ability to effortlessly add this technique to your playing style as needed. Take this and one other technique each day to add to your practice routine, then look for ways to incorporate them into your everyday playing. Don’t forget to warm up each day with at least one of the finger exercises, playing with a click to maintain your timing. Whenever possible, practice hard for 30 minutes a day, and then play to have fun. Never practice to the point of pain! When you feel like you’ve got these techniques down, move to the next song in this series.
