Watch the Rhumba online guitar lesson by Steve Lasner from Blues Expose
In this rhumba we are using major chords so the solo should have some humor and simple melodic flow. Mixing major and minor pentatoinc scales with chord tones will work well but Chuck Berry style rock licks work nicely too. Remember to give it that bounce. This is a key component to the rhythm so when working on rhythm focus on rakes and rhythmic patterns that emphasize the rhumba feel. Make it fun and experiment. Listen to some rhumbas from Albert King and Freddie King for some good examples.
The following collection of chord voicings and scale diagrams is included to help you keep track of the different forms and fingerings mentioned throughout the various lessons in Blues Expose. They’re compiled here for easy reference as you work your way through the course.
