Triplets are a great way to vary your rhythm when playing lead. Let's look at some ways we can use triplets to vary our playing. I recommend you practice triplets frequently. Make sure you can go into "triplet mode" over a variety of tempos. Practice going from quarter notes and eight notes to triplets and backm, both fast and slow. In fact, you can take almost any lick and make a part of that into a triplet. Some licks can be converted to triplets entirely. It's a great way to vary the rhythmic phrasing of your lead playing.
