Watch the Swing It online guitar lesson by David Hamburger from Blues Alchemy

As the first major electric guitarist in any genre, Charlie Christian was the most influential guitarist in jazz from his arrival on the scene in the late 1930s until Wes Montgomery surfaced nearly twenty years later. While Christian died in 1941, the mid-1940s saw Oscar Moore emerge as one of the most tasty and successful disciples in the Christian school. Moore made his mark with the Nat "King" Cole trio and his playing echoed Christian's balance of hot blues riffage and cool, economical proto-bop lines.
