Watch the Rhumba Blues online guitar lesson by David Hamburger from Blues Alchemy

If you feel like you're stuck playing the same old voicings, try moving them up or down an octave. The G7#9 chord in this rhythm part is a good example: when you take the old "Purple Haze" chord down an octave, you wind up on the bottom four strings, where everything is fat and chunky. It almost sounds like something played on a Hammond organ, and there's nothing cooler than that.
