I still think Live At The Regal, a live B.B. King album taped in Chicago in 1964, is one of the coolest records ever made. The band does a slow burn behind King as he jokes with and charms the audience, and women scream with ecstasy and men roar with approval as he plays hit after hit from his then-recent 1950s catalog. The singing is stunning, the horns are badass, and the guitar playing continues to sound as startlingly fresh and wryly emotional as it must have been some forty years ago.
