Watch the Taking It Further online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Guitar Lab: Big Blues & Beyond
This final lesson applies various pedal tone ideas to each of the five E minor pentatonic scale forms. Any of the 12 notes that reside within a pentatonic form can be used as a point of reference for a pedal tone lick. The note can be an upper or lower pedal tone. You can also use the same mental approach and play double-stop ideas with any two notes in the pentatonic scale as a starting point.
In all ten lessons I have stressed the importance of knowing where your roots and fifths are so that you'll always be able to close your ideas with a strong finish. I will play various examples of these techniques over a jam track and then you can try it yourself.
