Watch the Little Sixteen Solo online guitar lesson by David Hamburger from Blues Alchemy: Post-War

Little Walter was already making a name for himself when he began working with Muddy Waters. Walter was just the first of several great harp players to pass through Muddy’s band; other alumni include Junior Wells and James Cotton. While his first recordings with Muddy were unamplified, Walter’s overdriven sound, first put on record in 1951, brought a whole new drive and intensity to the harmonica, and as Muddy Waters and Chess records worked to establish the sound we now consider classic Chicago blues, Little Walter was as integral as any musician to that process.
