Watch the Take Me Higher online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from 50 R&B Licks You MUST Know

The C# and E notes that make up the opening double stop are chord tones of the A7. The next double stop is a minor 6th (C# & A). I slide up to play E and G, also chord tones. The F# and A at the 11th and 10th frets put me in position to play a blues lick that culminates in a whole tone bend from C up to D. This would be the 5th of the G7 chord.

Chord tones baby, sweet notes!
