Watch the Open Trips online guitar lesson by Corey Congilio from 50 Progressive Blues Licks You MUST Know

The 16th note triplets are back. This time in a crazy open string lick courtesy of Scott Henderson. Often times, jazz inspired blues players will "force" ideas over conventional tunes. This creates great harmonic tension. This is deliberate because the player wants to twist your ear and take it "outside." This lick is in D and is a great option when playin in D.

Open string licks to me, have a category of their own. I keep them in my back pocket for the right moment. Do the same with this one!
