Watch the Mood Circles online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from 50 Jump Blues Licks You MUST Know

A special chorus is often used in a more sophisticated jump blues tune and in a swing setting, where the chord progression becomes a bit more complicated. One of the more common additions to a jump blues is to throw in an 8 or 16 bar interlude with a progression that follows the circle of fifths. These standard cliche progressions make it easy for a composer to write strong melodies, which in turn can inspire your jump blues solos. This lick is an example of a special chorus much like Glenn Miller's In the Mood.
